Born and raised in Northern California, Chase began playing the drums at the age of 10 and participated in school bands starting in junior high. In high school he was a student of Tim Metz and was selected to the California All State Jazz Band in 2011. Within a few months, Chase was awarded the All-Star Combo at the Reno jazz festival, and later that year was selected into the prestigious Vail Jazz Workshop in Colorado where he was mentored by Lewis Nash, Jeff Hamilton, Terrell Stafford, John Clayton, Jeff Clayton and Bill Cunliffe.  Soon after he went to SUNY Purchase to pursue a Bachelor’s in music where he studied with John Riley and Kenny Washington.  While at SUNY Purchase, Chase was a 2-year member of the Purchase Jazz Orchestra directed by Jon Faddis and Todd Coolman.

After graduating SUNY Purchase, Chase went on to get his Master’s degree at the Manhattan School of Music, where he was selected to perform in the MSM Jazz Orchestra.  During his time there he took private lessons from Kendrick Scott and studied with Cecil Bridgewater, Marc Cary, Theo Bleckmann, Dave Liebman and many others.

Chase has had the opportunity to share the stage with many great artists such as Terrell Stafford, Steve Turre, Doug Weiss, Gary Bartz, Jerry Dodgion and Stefon Harris. He has played at world renowned venues such as Blue Note NYC, Dizzy's Club Coca Cola, The Falcon, 55 Bar, Smoke Jazz Club and Harlem Stage.  Currently Chase resides in the greater Sacramento area where he works as a freelance jazz drummer and educator.
